Road Diet Town Meeting

Lincoln Road Diet Community Meeting FlyerAfter two months of collaboration with the City of San José Department of Transportation, the Lincoln Avenue Road Diet Working Group is excited to invite you to a town meeting at 6:30pm on Thursday, February 12th, where city staff and working group members will present plans for the upcoming road diet trial in Downtown Willow Glen and ask for your feedback.

The meeting will be hosted by WGNA in the Willow Glen Elementary School Cafeteria and will include an open forum for any and all community members to pose their thoughts, concerns, and questions. Because we expect a very large crowd, we will ask that you keep your comments to 2 minutes or less so that everyone can be heard.

Please see this flyer for more information, and feel free to share it with your friends and neighbors. The flyer includes an excellent FAQ section that should answer most of your questions about the road diet trial.

Plans for the road diet trial are the product of a collaborative partnership between community stakeholders and city staff. More than 100 residents, business and property owners, and other community members submitted comments, concerns, and questions to the working group, which held bi-weekly meetings with DOT staff to address them.

If you're interested in the process, you can click here to read the minutes from our latest meeting on January 23rd, or scroll down our road diet blog to read minutes from previous meetings, learn more about road diets, and see the comments submitted by our neighbors through the road diet web form.

If you live near Downtown Willow Glen, you've probably seen the traffic measurement piping throughout the neighborhood. The city will be monitoring traffic at 45 different locations before, during, and after the road diet trial. This data will be used to analyze the impacts of the Lincoln road diet on surrounding streets. Click here to see a map.

We hope to see you on Thursday the 12th. If you can't attend, you can share your thoughts with us via email, web form, or on Twitter using the hashtag #LincolnRoadDiet.
